Grandmaster Chess Academy (“we,” “us”) operates grandmasterchess.org. This Policy describes how we handle personal information. Informational content on this site is not legal advice and creates no attorney-client relationship (the same notice used on laws.com).

By using the site or buying services you consent to this Policy. Disputes about privacy are subject to the Florida arbitration clause in the Terms.

1. What we collect

  • Identity and contact: name, email, phone, notes you type (preferred times, Zoom vs in person)
  • Student information you volunteer (age band, level, school) for scheduling
  • Payment status and amounts; card numbers are processed by Stripe, not stored on our servers
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, device, and basic logs
  • Communications with support@kumbaya.com
  • Lesson recordings if we enable recording

2. How we use it

We use data to take payment, schedule, teach, message you, prevent fraud and chargebacks, improve operations, and comply with law. We may use it to defend claims. We do not sell personal information.

3. Processors

Stripe processes cards under Stripe’s terms and privacy notice. Hosting and email providers may process data as needed to run the site. We require processors to use data only for our instructions, subject to their own legal duties.

4. Children

We teach children, but a parent or guardian must provide contact data and pay. Do not submit a child’s Social Security number or unnecessary sensitive data. We treat parent contact data as the account of record.

5. Retention

We keep records as long as needed for teaching, tax, bookkeeping, dispute defense, and legal holds. You may ask us to update contact details at support@kumbaya.com. We may deny deletion where we must keep records (payments, claims, law).

6. Cookies and analytics

The site may use essential cookies and basic analytics. You can block cookies in your browser; checkout and login-like flows may then fail.

7. Sharing

We may share data with instructors and contractors who need it to deliver a lesson, with payment processors, with professional advisors, and if required by law, court, or arbitrator in Florida. We may share in a sale of the Academy.

8. Security

No method of transmission is perfectly secure. You use the site at your own risk. Report suspected misuse to support@kumbaya.com.

9. Your choices

You may request access or correction of the contact data we hold, subject to verification and legal exceptions. California, Virginia, and similar state rights apply only if that statute covers us and your request is valid. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a non-waivable statutory right.

10. International users

The Academy is operated from the United States. If you access from elsewhere, you transfer data to the U.S. and Florida and accept that transfer.

11. Changes

We may post an updated Policy. Continued use is acceptance.
